Default Mufflers

I have a 2011 silverado with a 5.3 and I want to change just my muffler but can't decide what to get....I don't want much of a tone change at idle, but a nice deep rumble while driving....any suggestions???

I like my summit(dynomax knock off) round race muffler.

I still have the original cats and manifolds on my 5.3 and here's how it sounds. Sorry it isn't very loud in the video...

DO NOT get Flowmaster. They will rust out in no time and restrict power!

Ask me how I know...

ok, how? dont take this the wrong way and im not trying to pick a fight with u but depending on your definition of "in no time", im gonna have to call bullshit. i had my flowmaster installed in the beginning of 2009 and here it is near the enf of 2013 and i lift my truck in the air at least once a week, no signs of rust. before that i had flowmaster on a ford expedition, installed in 2004 and sold in 2010, no rust. and i live in kansas. so please explain...as far as the flowmaster not "flowing", do you have any cfm comparison charts with any other mufflers? if so i'd like to see them so i can change to a better exhaust, if thats the case.

The Flowmaster cases don't rust out, the issue tends to lie with the baffles rusting out at the welds leading to a crappy noise. This is entirely dependent on driving style, most commonly rusting occurs in situations where the truck is driven short distances, enough to condense water in the muffler and not boil it out.

Compared to a straight-thru muffler like a Corsa or Magnaflow, the baffles in a Flowmaster are (slightly) more restrictive. But since you're being propelled by the sound of a Flowmaster and not the engine, I doubt the minor restriction is going to hurt your performance much.

PS: I had a 40 series Flowmaster, much too deep-toned (and loud) for my tastes. The case didn't rust but I had a 1" hole rusted through the first baffle after a year of use. Since you wanted numbers....NUMBERS:
