317's on a 5.3???
Has anyone used 317's on a 5.3 for a forced induction application? If so, what type of gasket did you use?... Also how did the set up work out? Please input any information ya'll have. Thanx.

This has been done by a number of people. You'll need to use the 6.0l head gaskets. The 317's will take your compression ratio down by well over a full point. The larger valve sizes and improved ports will help the top end power. Be careful how much boost you run as head gakset sealing is compromised by the chambers overhanging the cylinder bores.

Stock 6.0L heads flow alot better than stock 5.3 heads. So unless the 5.3 heads are ported with larger valves you might be wasting your time. I would go with the LS6 head, or ported LS1 heads if you are going through the trouble. Swaping heads on these truck's is a lot of work, if you do the job right.

317 cylinder heads are designed for a 4.00" bore with larger valves that will be closer to the stock 5.3L cylinder bore, thus shrouding the valves. 5.3L cylinder heads on a 6.0L bore will allow larger than stock valves and opening up the combustion chamber without shrouding the valves against the cylinder wall.
