Electric water pumps
Who out there makes an electric water pump for our trucks? (5.3L) Will any LS1 pump work? Will this pump from Meziere work?
http://www.meziere.com/
On the left hand menu choose: Water Pumps/GM/Corporation/LS1.
Anybody out there actually swapped their stock pump for an electric?

now I am not sure what to do. Are you sure that the Meziere flows 20% less. Keep in mind that they have a quote "40+ GPM" version. The extra flow with the evans is nice but I was really trying to go electric to pick up the extra Hp. BTW here's detailed plan. Radix blower, Flex fans and an electric pump, (also a new stat of some kind.) I would loose the fan hub all together. This would require some different belts and pulleys to run the alt, air comp, PS pump and of course the Radix. Possibly require a newly mounted idler pulley. Just for thoughts, anybody make a electric motor to run the PS pump?
Do you think they could mount a motor in place of the hub and build an electric version of the evans?

I installed the Merziere on my truck. You have to get rid of the clutch/flex fan and install electric fans if you go with the electric water pump. I had already installed the electric fans BEFORE installing the Merziere and I found that after the electric pump was installed the fans actually cycled ON and OFF after the engine reached operating temperature. Prior to installing the Meziere the fans came ON they would stay on continuously once the engine reached operating temperature instead of cycling ON and OFF as they do now. You have to modify the upper fan shroud somewhat to reroute the upper radiator hose because the pump outlet comes out of the pump pointing forward instead of upward as it does on the stock water pump. That's about it. I control every thing using relays which I mounted under the UBEC (Under Hood Bussed Electrical Center). I also used waterproof fuse holders. That's the only way I'd go and solder every connection instead of crimping. I always solder because I fish in saltwater and salt kills crimped electrical connections so I solder everything out of force of habit. It pays off in the long run.

The pump bolts right up. You have to gut the stock thermostat and install a SBC thermostat under the Meziere pump outlet neck. I'm not sure, but I think it is the 35 gal pump. Either way it's pumping more water than I need right now. Maybe that will change in the summer when it is 95 degrees out and the A/C is running in stop and go traffic.

dont the electric pumps move more coolant while idling than the stock pumps? That would keep cooler in trafic or in the staging lanes, with good fans of course. When the truck is up in speed the moving air keeps things cool, right? So wouldnt an electric pump be better? and give an extra 5-7hp to the wheels.
