05 5.3 Cam Only Dyno
Installed a TR220 114 in a 05 5.3 ECSB. The truck had 7K miles on it and was bone stock. Installed the cam and a set of 918 springs only and put it on the dyno and tuned it. 26 degrees timing and a conservative 12.6~12.8 a/f, 91 octane gas. We did not dyno the truck before the cam, but I compared it to a 03 5.3 Z71 ECSB that we had dynoed earlier. The 03 was bone stock untuned and running on 87 octane gas. I was pretty impressed with what the cam only on a bone stock truck did. Is this typical? I'm used to dealing with F-bodies.

I would of probably expected a little more??

if it dont then they probably seem about right...

Seems a bit on the high side for no exhaust work. Then again its a dynojet so its tough to say. On a loaded dyno or if we could compare correction factors we could get a better idea but no biggy.
It seems like most 5.3L 9.5:1 trucks with headers, exhaust and a cam are in the 290-320 rwhp range.
With LTs, Intake pipe, and a muffler on stock tubing and a 226 cam I did 303rwhp untuned. SO its pretty resonable. ESPECIALLY with a good tuner who knows LS1s
Good job!

I think the big bus muffler had been replaced with 2 flowmaster looking mufflers and two pipes running out the back on the 05, but other than that it was stock. Would the muffler change make that much difference? Still had cats, stock manifolds, stock air intake, paper filter. Although the peak number differences are good, I was more impressed with the differences at 5.7K where I put the cursor. That's almost 100hp and 90 ft lbs.

That is the main draw for cams on these trucks. Its that crazy high rpm power gain that makes them so fun at the track or on the freeway
This was my 226 and no tuning
This is what it ran with tuning and a 4950lb raceweight.

wow, stock that thing really drops hard in the upper rpms....mabye that is why my truck is so slow...lol I need to get it dynoed before the 6.0 swap to see.
F8L- what where ur #'s after tuning? That is a nice looking graph!
