Default Transmission Slow to Engage Drive

My transmission is very slow to engage drive. Any idea why? Can engagement be adjusted?

Now a bit of history...
I was driving to work one day this past winter and unbeknownst to me a cooler line ruptured and I started spewing fluid. The transmission started to slip and finally I lost forward propulsion and pulled to the side of the road. I had the truck towed home. I found the problem, fixed it, and added fluid. I regained all gears but now when selecting a gear the transmission is very slow to actually engage. Transmission shifts and drives fine other than that.

Might want to take a look at the forward accumulator piston. This is a link to an article that was done on the shop. Here is a picture of what a broken one looks like. Always update them with the aluminum style.http://www.gmhightechperformance.com.../photo_14.html
