Default Duramax in a GMC 1500

I just wanted to pose the question can a Duramax be put in a GMC 1500. I know that the HD trucks come with a wider frame but could you modify the frame to put a diesel? The reason I ask is because my truck is fixing to hit the 100k it has a 5.3 z71 and I would like to put a 6.2 & now I'm exploring the options of puting a duramax. I want to have the power to pull a 5th wheel with no problems and not become broke while doing it with gas prices (their for the diesel). I know from looking at Ebay i could get a duramax for 10k with tranny and wiring harness. Another question is can you even legaly do the swap because of emissions how would they test it if the vin says its a gas truck but I put a diesel? Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

There was a thread on here a while ago about a guy who did slap a duramax in a 1500. I think it was in the multimedia section because there was a video of it. I'll see if I can find it.

Nope can't find it but at least nightrunner has a good memory. I'd say do it just for kicks and to be different.

20's up front 22's out back!

Let me just say that this **** PULLLLLS!

To do this conversion he spent like 25K on all the parts, the Allison is built since he has like 1200 FT/lbs of TQ and he has it custom tuned. The frame was cut up to stuff the engine tranny combo in there. He also had to use 2500 Van parts for the front end.

Best time is an 11.57 @ 119 @ Indy Diesel Showdown
