Default My confidence in my 80E is SHAKEN

So I drop the pan on my trans tonight to replace the wiring harness. Hoping to fix a leak I have through the connector.

Anywho the pan. Not as clean as I wanted it to be but I've seen worse. Maybe 4000 miles on it since swapping it in.

Go to wipe it out and clean it up and find these little bits

Its been driving fine. Only thing that I've maybe noticed is that it may not have dropped down into 1st a couple times leaving a light.

Anybody have any ideas what it possibly could be? Right now I'm thinking I'll just button it back up and drive till it craps. Meanwhile getting my spare ready.

Yes just clutch material in the pan. Yes, a stock 80e with Transgo.

my stock 80e with shift kit lasted a mear 7 months...there was so much clutch material in the oil it would plug up the filter and starve the pump...it's getting new stuff in it right now.

If I remember correctly, this isnt the first 80e thread where they lose so much clutch material. Why are the 80e's losing so much?

I've been through a couple manuals. The broken bits could be anything. With it not dropping into 1st a few times from a stop something in the intermediate clutches? Some of the bits may be from the center support springs. Also looks like maybe a bit from a big snap ring.

Maybe its time for me to take on at least the teardown of the trans.

I'm so freakin put out with a certain modded truck right now.
