Another option, have you thought about getting a 2nd vehicle or project vehicle and over time put mods on that instead, like a 99-04 RCSB or an F-body ls1 Camaro?
If you look around now you can find good deals on vehicles, and a lot of them already modded.
The Camaro would already be a 14 sec car stock, and if you get a RCSB it's a better platform for a truck if you are serious about performance because they weigh a lot less. You can get a RCSB in the 13's easy.

Launching!

Hi,
Figure I should chime in since I have one of the setups that people are suggesting...
The Launch with a nv4500 is the hardest part of going fast.
What size tires do you have? I'm running 285/75r16(33s) a 2nd gear launch is pretty hard on the clutch and a first gear launch gets you to like 20mph before you have to shift.
How much does your truck weigh? I'm at 6,440lbs with me in it and a half tank of gas.
My best time with a completely stock truck was:
17.813@77.37 That was at Bandimere Speedway in Colorado.
With a Diablo tune SLP intake and an Underdrive Pulley I ran around a:
16.7@81(can't find the slip) That was at Island Dragway NJ
Last summer I finally got the truck to the track with the supercharger, it was silly hot, like mid 90's and the place was empty we were basically hot lapping.
My second run was the fastest here are the numbers:
60' 2.637
330' 6.954
1/8 10.465
1/4 16.098@86.13
The 60' is not good....
By the end of the day I had that down some heres the last numbers:
60' 2.241
330' 6.903
1/8 10.564
1/4 16.377@84.16
All those times were at Island Dragway NJ
Judging by the fact that I was able to take 4 tenths off my 60' but run slower because of the heat soak I know this truck has very solid low 15's in it. Maybe high 14's with a perfect launch and perfect shifts and perfect weather.
I still have my stock tires and wheels 145/75r16 (30s) My guess is with those on I would definitely be in the 14's
I can vouch that just because you don't run a super fast 1/4 doesn't mean you can't smoke some faster cars on the street.
The torque curve, or Plateau in this case is just silly. My mods are in the sig, all I have is the maggie, smaller pulley, a muffler, and tuning. It make 400+rwtq from 2k to 5k. The power is just always there.
I have taken multiple mustang GTs all 4.6s on the highway as long as it was from a roll, they just didn't stand a chance.
I guess I should get to the point, go FI. Depending on how you drive and what else you have on your truck you might have a good 14 second truck. Even if you don't get 14's you have something that is silly fun to drive on the street.

Alright, maybe it wasn't 105 exaxtly but i know it was over 100. I'm sorry for all the butt hurt i've caused for the car owners.
At the time, all i had was a CAI which is pretty worthless IMO, an EFI live tune, and maggie cat back. Tires were 285/16 nitto terra grapplers.
All this was done from a 2nd gear drop at 6300 revy. The nv4500 is not hard to shift at high rps at all, at least for me. Stock clutch, if you have a centerforce dual friction then you're fawked at anything over 5500. Also the gas light was on and it was a nice cool evening around 55 degrees out and the truck sat for a couple hours so it was completely cooled.
BlownHD,
you're saying that you only hit the 14's with a supercharge in the quarter? Something cant be right here, unless you're just not hooking up what so ever.
I have no reason to lie here nor do I have anything to prove I'm just stating the facts that i've seen with my own eyes.
BTW, i have no clue what the truck weighs, its a short bed ext cab.

As for hooking I run in 4wd. I try not to launch super hard since I use the truck everyday for work and need to keep a use able clutch in it to haul materials.
I'm no pro but I like to think I can hold my own shifting the thing. And I have had a centerforce in this, will never buy one again, for any vehicle...

It's gonna take more money than you think to get a heavy truck like that quick, but you will need to go FI. A supercharger would be nice though.

An LS1 f body should run low 13s stock.

Here is my old pickup, its a 03 2500HD, 6.0L, 2WD ECSB. It had a small cam, K&N FIPK, and a Flowmaster Muffler.
