a 505 with a turbo in a regular cab should be just dumb! id like to go for a ride in that.
I need to get photos of my buddys truck.. its 8? model. use to look like the "fall guys truck"
Its tubbed, 4 linked, th400 with 4XX ci motor, has 120 mm turbo, run on alcohol. If i remember correctley it made 1250whp and 1600 lbtq on 12 psi... they settled on 12 becaue at 18psi it was making 1800whp and flat lined the dyno... only problem was it was "spooling" faster than the twin 60mm waste gates could bleed off the boost... figured 12 psi was safe and well its still plenty of power lol.. If all the stars align it should go in the 8"s Truck is all metal too... I told them if you put that in somthing that isnt 4900 lb it might be fast.. Drew replied with " i like walter benltys theroy of you just need more power" last year on a stock bottem end 427 with L88 heads, race gas and 80mm precision it went 10.80's at 133 with 2.3 60 foot... that was before it was tubbed. its just dumb... trucks pulls so hard that the bench seat moves.. i had my arm on the top of it with my fingers hanging over the back side.. when it came on boost the bench smashed my fingers between it and the back of the cab lol....
I got a belt today that half inch shorter... see if it will take my belt slip stop. I hope this will make it stay at 5-6 psi to redline... Im pretty sure the problem is the motor out flows the blower like whippled496 said.. Ive never had a low boost blower so maybe later on ill slap a 50 mm turbo on it to... set the turbo to say 5-6 psi and blow into the whipple that way it will not have any choice but to make booooooost... granted i better buy piston as well. or sale it , rob a bank buy a new 2500 burb and send it to duraburb lol...
i cant wait to get back and do some seat of the pants testing... then hit the dyno... it still will not spinn the tires... im giving up.. it has to be the weight of the burb, my tires, and bumpers... I launched it with 3 guys in last night doing some tuning on boost... nada.. just pinns you in the seat and goes... you can tell the parts are working. before it was about 9 seconds to 60.. Its a lot faster now but not sure how much faster.. it also "twist" the body which it never did before.. You can feel it in the seats lol.. it sorta feels like the runble strips on the side of high way when you launch it on boost... im sure 33" mud tires dont help, or they where spinning a little causing the shake. last car i had that " twisted" under boost was a 93 cobra, with built motor and custom vortech on 19 psi.. It rubbed the paint off the door jams lol... man i miss that car!

Have you pulled the torque management and lessened the DBW restrictions in your tune? All the power in the world will not let the tires spin if these items are not tuned properly.

i havent dont drive by wire i dont think... i fallowd the steps on the tq managemt and it has all been turned off.. I also did the steps on the ecu for throttle delay and tq settings that motor throws out... off the top of my head i dont remember anything on the DBW...
I think my problem is 373 gears, with 33.5 inch tires moves my gear ratio down a lot.. then those bead locks wheels are about 70 lbs with out the tire... that kills the rolling mass. then i have that steel bumper on the back that was 150 lbs.. Whats strange is when it was stock, if you got in grass it was stuck in two wheel drive. same for snow. but you just cant get any redneck burnout going on pavement.. Im running bfg mud terains..

its back up and running... have a damn leaking water pump now...
Anyway here are few videos... it still need a good tuner.
first start up, untuned... without the blower
http://www.youtube.com/user/2500burb.../5/IXuB68giAmo
here is how it sounded with the headers, exhaust etc... stock cam
http://www.youtube.com/user/2500burb.../3/6duIdmMSYWM
cam installed with blower... im sure it could use some more help.
http://www.youtube.com/user/2500burb.../2/nSYHjUfblTc
0-60, headers, intake, snorkel, exhaust and 33's... not bad for 8300 lbs
http://www.youtube.com/user/2500burb.../1/7qelOAvW4uo
no brake boosting... 0-60
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JfU0caHEdA
i think with a good tune it will pick up some more power... also need to measure my pullys and see what size im running.... right now its still only 5 psi and falls off to 3

You have to buy adjustable studs for the 8.1, (metric thread on bottom for 8.1-7/16's on top for standard BBC locknuts or poly locks on top) I bought them for my set up. In theory if the base circle of the cam is the same and the lifters are identical then the pushrod length should be the same right? If you reused the rocker bolts and one of those other variables changed then you at least need to check pushrod length. since you used the roller tipped rockers arms like I am using then you shouldnt have to worry about the rocker arms hitting the bolts with additional lift (long slot) TIEROD mebbe can chime in.
Kerr, did you check your contact pattern from the rocker tip to the valve stem, I would bet its prob. off considering the different base circle If you used the factory rocker studs!

yea we rechecked them.. i just got lucky i guess. i ask the guy that helped me about it and he said i just got lucky.. explained the reason why you have to do that and why we didnt have to do it. to be honest i didnt pay a lot of attention when he was explaining why i got lucky on it. He lost me after cam centerline vs something. vs pushrod length vs something and bolts thread. This isnt the first 8.1L he has been threw so im not the test mule lol.. He has been building stuff for yearss.. this is my 4th motor he has helped me with. come to think about it only one has broken that he has done... He mostley builds for him, family and close friends.. he has a " real job" as he likes to say...
The one that died was a 427 in a biscane with a 400 shot. going into 3ed you could see this silverish dust in the head lights of the supercharged and nitroused mustang that was loosing.. "um i mean behind us ". There was $5K on the line, but it was really to just shup up a guy in town thats anoying as fingernails on a chalk board.. He had a fast fast ride but sometime you just have to hurt there ego... figured what the hell its hurt so went on grabbed 4th. Finished him off by about 10 cars, and the motor too.. lol. Tough old motor.. it ran back home and im pretty sure that block is now in his 66 vette... Anyway that was fun car... 427 + 400 shot, M22 rockcrusher, and 4:10's, It was "matt black" before that was cool... well it was really just faded out paint...
