We've installed a few of them. They go in easy but all of them needed clearancing at the steering shaft. I would personally buy a stainless Diesal 4" cat back,Flowmaster 3" to 4" Y merge and piece it in there.

I have also heard the same thing Slowhawk....can you "define" clearancing? Did you have to heat them up, ding them, bend them, move the shaft over a little? How did you make it work and how close was it to the shaft before and after the clearancing? Did they ALL need to be clearanced. I have heard that some do and some dont....maybe its year specific? Do you have any pics? Starting to sound like it may be easier "and" a little less expensive to go with a single 4" setup. The question now is...(as i am kinda stuck on the magnaflows)...do they make a 4" in/out magnaflow muffler?....I have to go an check.

I found 4" magnaflows but they are under the "racing muffler" catagory....wonder how much difference there is in sound between them and the standard muffler. They only come in 14" body/20" total length designs.

LOL...no...not loud. I want mild idle and cruise......then a nice sound when I stomp on it. This is still going to be my camping and cruising truck as well as my 1/4 mile truck. I want to keep it somewhat tolerable.

I have found posts that say the racing series mufflers are loud, so i am not going to consider those. Can I use a diesel muffler on a gas engine? I see magnaflow makes some nice 4" and 5" mufflers (non race series) but they are labeled "diesel" mufflers and they are also labeled "resonators". I will have to call Magnaflow tomorrow and talk to someone.

I think it's #4 tube.All I did was heat it and hit it.Wasn't much.

We ran a Stainless 4" Diesel exhaust from Summit Racing. It was maybe $400 for the whole setup and the muffler they supplied was perfect.

Magnaflow makes a dual 3 inch inlet single 4 inch outlet muffler. Then get a 4 inch tail section from their diesel systems

Stopped into the exhaust shop today and threw it up on the lift. After an hour or so of looking threw part #'s and looking at the layout underneath the truck we decided on 3" true duals all the way back. We will go into an X-pipe muffler (part number 12599) and run the ultra high flow CATs. Given the unequal length of the headers he said it would be a much cleaner install to go with the X-pipe muffler rather than an X-pipe and seperate single mufflers. The whole job including the stainless pipe, muffler, and CATs is going to run me about $1100. That will include a nice set of 4" tips on the end. If the headers come in this week, i will install them the following weekend and be ready for the exhaust shop by the week of the 16th. Fingers crossed.

Slowhawk,
Did you come up from the botom on both headers for the install? Anything special I need to know?

Also,
I picked up 2 Magnaflow 59920 CATs. Ultra high flow, 3.5" in/out that I will use reducers on to mate up with the 3" pipes. Should allow more than enough flow. HEaders should be in this week and I hope to get them on by this weekend if they do come in.
