Default Any tips/suggestions for new diesel owner?

Hey everyone just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Sam and I live in Michigan. Tomorrow I take delivery of a 2005 Silverado 2500 diesel I purchased. This is not my first truck but it is my first diesel. Any tips/suggestions/do's and don'ts would be greatly appreciated here. Thanks in advance.

quick run down from EFI Lives site

Diesel Custom Operating Systems

DSP² - Duramax Switchable Program² – suitable for LB7 and LLY Duramax.
DSP² allows users to switch on the fly between 2 tunes that you create. In addition to applying EFILive’s DSP² custom operating system, users need to install a Single Throw Toggle switch to the ECM.

Users can change a selected range of parameters that include Boost Levels, Injection and Timing – the key parameters to gain performance or economy from your multiple tunes. DSP² also has 9 user definable thresholds that will switch an ECM controlled output; parameters include Boost Levels, RPM, Throttle Position. These output could be used to control such things as Shift Lights, Warning lamps, Water injection, or N2O cut (throttle must be above 90% etc).

DSP5 - Duramax Switchable Program 5 – suitable for LB7 and LLY Duramax.
DSP5 is similar to DSP², except the number of switchable tunes has expanded from two to five. An Advanced Staging option is also included. In addition to applying EFILive’s DSP 5 custom operating system, users have the option to either install a 5 position resistance switch, or switch tunes via the FlashScan V2 interface. Switching via FlashScan V2 eliminates the need to install a 5 position resistance switch. The user can even name the tune to be displayed on the V2 interface for easy reference.

The Advanced Staging option allows users to limit fuel delivery amounts which in turn allows you to control (or limit) power under certain conditions. This function is useful for drag race staging by allowing you to launch at consistent RPM or boost levels without trying to control the throttle manually.

I am hearing the short bed only has a 26 gallon fuel tank which seems way to small for these trucks

The DSP is the best thing you can do. Im guessing you want to put a tuner and exhaust on it. The DSP is just like a tuner, but its much better. They are custom tunes and are done much better than what comes in a handheld. Dont let all of the technical stuff confuse you. You load the tunes on your truck, install the switch, and pick your setting.
