Bad MPG on my O6 D-max
I am wondering if I possibly am having problems with my 06 because I am getting an avg MPG of only 13.0. And after reading some of the mileage everyone else is getting, either my truck sucks orr something is wrong with it. It is an 06 3500 DRW crew 4wd Ally/3.73 with about 3000 miles on it. No check engine light or anything, seems to run fine just no MPG. Anyone got an idea why it is so low? Thanks.

give it time. it will get better. get a programmer, that will help your mileage. my truck has 3000 miles on it and i get about 15-15.8 around town not babying it at all. mods are in my sig. My buds get 19-20 with there's and they have close to 20,000 miles . they told me the same thing ....just wait.

Yeah, I have been told that it will improve also. But 13 is my average. Not Just in town. I don't know if it does 12 around town, and probably not much over 14 on the highway. When I first bought it, it was doing almost 16 on the highway. If there was something wrong, like a bad injector, would it set a code or how would I be able to tell? This is obviously my first diesel, I was a diehard big block guy until now.
How much did the exhaust and tuner pick up your mpg?

The 3500 drw trucks usually get 12 to 15 mpg with automatics. Most of the guys getting 18 to 20 mpg are 2500s. Manual trans trucks will get better mpg. Some of my customers say their mpg increased after 20,000 miles.

Your gonna need to put at least 20,000 miles on that truck before you see the best mileage your truck will do..
I wouldnt reccomend a programmer until you at least have 10k on the clock.. Diesel rings need more time to seat than gassers, and when you spray in more fuel during this break-in time, your just going to wear down your rings faster, and have longevity issues later on..

I was averaging the same 13-15 MPG around town at first. Now that I have a little over 9000 miles on the truck my MPG has improved. I am now getting 16-18 around town depending on how I drive, still running stock.

I actually was considering the edge with attitude, but was told about a platinum one. That had a turbo timer built into it. You have any idea about that or if they are making one for an LBZ yet?
