Default Calling all 2500hd owners

Hey guys... I've been looking into buying a GMT900 2500hd. I like the lines and i need something to pull a travel trailer. I've been looking at the 6.0 trucks. I can't afford a duramax right now. I was woundering how owners like them. I also wanted to know what kinda mpg these are getting. I've heard they get better than the last gen trucks, but no numbers for sure. Any help from you guys would be great.

well i have a 2004 2500h its been the best truck i have evr had so far veryh comforatable and durable the new ones are very nice usually if you drive decent with it u get 14mpg city an 21 highway. Which model is the one ur intereste in LT LS WT or LTZ. I recommen LT1 if your going to use it for luxury and/or racing. It has all the nice stuff leather seats, CD player XM and Onstar. ALl for a decent price LTZ is waaaaaaaay over priced

You arent going to get 21 on the highway with a 6.0 2500HD theres no way. If you are going to be pulling a travel trailer Id recommend buying a year or two old dmax. You cant imagine how much nicer it is to have the diesel torque.

Ditto. Or if you can find a '06-07 HD with a 8.1 big block you won't be kicking yourself as much.

I love my '08 2500 HD. Bone stock with the little 245 tires it was getting 15-16 mixed. Now with 33s and tuning on it with HPT it gets anywhere from 14.5-18mpg. Flat highway at 55mph will net me around 18mpg, 75-80mph on the highway will net me 14.5-15mpg. Not to shabby. The truck is an ECSB with 3.73s.

I would take the 6.0 over an 8.1 any day. The mileage on the 8.1s is absolutely horrid.

To the OP, 07 and up trucks have a 100K warranty, if you buy it from a Gm dealer the warranty is transferable. You can pick up some decent mileaged Dmaxs for what you could pick up that 6.0 brand new. Its all in what you want, I tow a lot, my Z71 even with a stroker motor(way more low end than a stock 6.0) still doesnt compare to how my dmax tows the same trailers and all I really have power wise is a 100hp EFI tune AND running 35s on stock 3.73 gearing.

When I had 265s on my truck I was getting 20 on the highway running 75, and getting a little under 15 running the same speeds towing a Jeep on a lowboy trailer. Now those numbers are down about 2-2.5mpg running 35s, it doesnt like the gear ratio much.

u dont need that much power to pull a trailer though go with the 6.0 LQ4. Diesel ones are too expensive you will probably get 13 city and 18 highway with the trailer if its less that 2000 pounds
