D max swap
IM toying with the idea of having a D max swapped into the suburban... Just wondering if anyone has done it.
I know there are two companys that do the swap, not sure what the price is or how long it takes. Im also not sure if they will do it if you supply the parts. Id kinda like to use the dmax with a the current 4L80E i have. I know it will need some freshning up but im not too impressed with the allison's ive driver to pay the money difference.

From the swaps I saw they actually weld a DMax front fram to the Sub rear fram. Not really a DIY but some could do it.
A 4L80 behind the Dmax? Why, the allison is 1/2 the reason the Dmax is so good.

there was a place in texas that was doing it and they were charging like 80k to buy a burban already done, but i do know they just take the power plant out of a truck and put it in the burban, you also need to put a 2" or 3" body lift for it all to clear.
btw what part of va you from?

The 2" body lift is needed for the allison trans from what I understand.
If I were to do it, I'd use a 2001 dmax so that it's computer could interface nicely with the BCM in your '01. Also, the Savana and Express vans run a 250hp/460ft-lb version of the LMM and use the 4L85E.

I would imagine that if you put any more power than the 250/460 behind the 80e it wont last.

I would think that a strengthened 80e could handle some good power. Parish put close to if not over 1000hp through one. Mightymouse over on tech is doing about the same as well. You'd just be missing the extra gear of the allison.

does someone know of a member that has already done something similar??
i am working on a new project as well.
we are putting a d-max in a 96 chevy tahoe,,2door,,4x4
donor truck = 02 gmc 1 ton 4x4
it seems that advice for my project is very hard to come by,,,been asking anybody and everybody in the diesel performance world.
i am not a gear head,,i just know what i want.
i want a 1000hp slightly lifted 4x4 racing machine
question----do i need to use the entire drive train(front and rear end)?
or do i just use the 96 tahoe drive train,,,,i ve been advised both ways,,,,
