They aren't common but a buddy of mine is doing one to his 91 half ton. It's not really a half ton anymore as the frame is mostly custom now and fully boxed accomodating all the air ride components. It will be an oddball for sure though. Started life as an extended cab short box and is now a crew cab with a 5.5 foot bed like the newer trucks. He just grabbed his donor for the bed the other night ( a wreck of a 97 ) from my place so he can section the front of it. The cab is already mounted.
So add a bagged 91 crew cab 5.5 foot bed 2wd to the duramax swap list. I just can't wait to help get it running...............

I've been doing some research and have been looking at anything pre-1972 in 1 ton + configuration. Not sure if I'll find something worthy but I have been looking at old truck chassis!
This or a 53' is what I'll probably end up doing if I do this. I'd probably look into making the chassis alot beefier so that it could tow a 5th wheeler. Rarely see old trucks towing these days, that would be sweet!

Yeah those are nice, to bad they are everywhere.... do something like this instead... way bigger wow factor.... Old GM Cab Over Trucks...
