Duramax tuning
Well, I just picked up an 06 dmax lbz. I love the truck, has good power, drives nice, seems to get decent fuel mileage, but like anyone else, I would always like a bit more. I know efilive is way more popular for diesels, but I use hpt for my gas truck. Anybody willing to share a mild towing/economy tune with me? This diesel stuff is WAY different then the gas stuff. I'm not looking for a race truck, maybe like 40hp and some better mileage.
Also, anyone set up a turbo brake through hpt?
Thanks for any help!

You could get the PPE hand held, its pretty much the best one for diesel, don't mess around with bully Dog.
I used EFI live to tune my brothers Dmax but before that we had the PPE and was pretty good. went 14.4 on a mild tune stock everything on 35in all terrains 4door 07 duramax. We still had a bunch of lvls to try but didn't wanna push the trans to hard, the rebuild runs like around 5g's. I'm running i think a 400~ish HP tune on it now through EFI and it pulls hard.
Other things you could do would be a lift pump, and built trans.
But a decent tune is more than enough for most people.

I'm not looking to make it fast, I have one ten second truck, that's expensive enough, lol. Just looking to optimize the stock tune basically, mainly for mileage, 30-40hp would be about all I would do. Truck is for driving long distances and hauling my **** around.

Then keep it stock. More fuel = higher EGT's. YTou can already push past the limit on a stock tune hauling a big load. I would install a EGT probe and see where you are on your temps, and go from there. Ive been using EFILive for years on my dmax's and my colorado, so if you need any help, feel free to shoot me a PM.
