I used a pipe wrench with a wood shim to keep it from digging into the pulley. This method came from a diesel mechanic/my supervisor at work.
And no, the pulley is pressed on, and when I did mine last week I text Kenneth (Iamkeniff) and he said don't worry about it. Plus, I don't think you can reuse the nut, I think it's all part of the fan assembly.
The other option for keeping the pulley in place is a special tool, if you look at the pulley, it has 4 holes in it where the special tool fits into so you can hold the pully in place... the pipe wrench worked well for me though.

Thanks. Got a 6.0 2000, and puchased LS1 Efans/PCMForLess Harness w/ 160 Tstat. U Running a similar setup? Anyone for that matter?

I'm sure there's a lot of people running that. I built my own harness, but I kept my stock thermostat due to the winters, and I enjoy having heat .
There are a lot of guys on here running the LS1 fans, I'm running trick fans just because I liked how much better they fit, plus 185 for new fans with an aluminum cut-to-fit shroud was just too good to pass up. I built my own harness though.

Does anyone know if this "truck" fan will work?

Since I have a 34" Radiator I don't think the LS1 fans would be a good move...

I have an 06 1500HD and I just put the fans out of an 05 tahoe in my truck and built my own harness. The 34" radiators are set up to hold the fans from the factory all you have to is buy 2 bolts to hold the top. I haven't towed anything yet but so far I have had no issues.
