Default Factory duals Y'ed into a single 3"

Entire www search isnt coming up with anything conclusive.

Is there any performance loss in switching to this setup on my 03 2500HD 6.0?

What it has now: OE manifolds, OE cats, OE dual 2.75" (??) piping, into a dual in/single out 22" Magnaflow.

What I want to do: Pacesetter LTs, Pacesetter ORY(3"), to 3" single piping all the way back to 30" long 3" single in/out Magnaflow (diesel round style)

The OE duals seem ideal for the 8.1, but seem like overkill for the 6.0.

The truck has a blackbear tune now and will be retuned after the install.....pending I go through with this.

go for it, from everything ive heard and seen a single 3" exhaust is plenty for trucks even with higher hp and mods. i ditched the factory duals on my 04 sss and went with a single 3.5" exhaust after the y-pipe and i love it. LPP longtubes, magnaflow high flow cats and a 22" si/so magnaflow muffler. best sounding and performing exhaust ive had on the truck since ive owned it.

What cab/bed setup is your truck? I have a 2500hd y-pipe from a corsa kit for a crew cab I'd be willing to sell.

Where did you find a 3.5" piece for after the Y? Is it just a straight section of exh tubing? Or is it a custom made piece? Is it flanged or slip fit? Does it manuver at a 45 degree angle around the crossmemember? I was planning on getting a flanged 3" mandrel mid pipe that Dynomax makes for $89. Its basically like a cat-back system for the 1500 trucks but minus the muffler and tail pipe, but if a straight section fits I can get straight sections of 14 gauge for like $10.

I have a CCSB 4WD. What exactly does that corsa look like? Because I have already ordered the Pacesetter ORY which is already 3" all the way around. I am interested though if it is something more efficient. Send a pic of it to rideredphil@aol.com

i purchased a flowmaster dual 3" to single 3.5" merge collector for after my mid pipes then constructed the rest of the 3.5" exhaust out of 4-5 45* mandrel bends. it all fits very nicely. i can take pictures if youd like

That would be awesome man.... if you could that would be much appreciated. I am a weekend warrior garage mechanic and try and do everything myself, so I am trying to wrap my head around this before I pull the trigger.

my email address is 2 posts up.

I used a duramax 3.5 inch system and made it fit my std cab short bed truck. later on i swapped out the stock quiet muffler for a str8 thru magnaflow 4 in and out muffler. now it has some tone.

I will probably sell the system locally when i get back to the states. For my new set up

i have a bunch of different mufflers ive tried on a 8.1L if you havent bought anything they are listed in the for sale section...

The way our 6.0L feel im guess that going with larger exhaust will hurt you a tad on low end power, but with the cam a stock truck has it will make more power in the upper rpms..
