Default Going back to stock, sort of

I'm at 227XXX and my tranny went this week so I went back to a stock converter with the rebuild.
Looking at a salvage motor. I realize it won't be near as fun but I don't have the cash/time/skill to rebuild it or another one.
So, will I be okay for a while using the tuned motor without a stall for a brief time, driving lightly? I will be getting the ecm with a new salvage motor.

Thanks
