I stand to be corrected on this but the 8.1L is essentially a BBC with a EFI manifold so technically any 396-454 manifold should fit

Default 8.1

I maybe wrong but I think there is a marine company. Raynar performance used 8.1s in offshore boats. not sure if the company exist anymore.
8.1s dont flow coolant through the intake like the other big blocks. I wouldnt plan to turn that long stroke many rpms or You will have a pile of junk.
good luck

Yes you are thinking of http://www.raylarengine.com/ They are good, but I do not think they offer a carb set up for the 8.1 Ray is one of the best out there fot these engines, makes serious power with them...

Just to re insure you, but it is hard to tell, here is a 8.1 mani on 1 of the 565's we have for the boat, just dicking around.. It def don't fit notice the side shot, it is longer aswell.. BTW the 496's have been a proven engine in the boats, had never had any issues with the mani being dry..

Because I have skills.. LOL.. Na I was just showing that a modern 496 intake will not bolt onto a old gen BBC.. That is one of the engines for my boat( 565ci dart)..
