New Duramax Owner
Well Guys,
All the good post pulled me in for my first Duramax ownership. I just sold my 2005 4x4 GMC 1500 crew cab and picked up my new 2007 classic 2500 HD 4x4 crew cab short bed.
Man, all I can say is wow!!
I do have one question my truck was built January 12, 2007 and I picked it up from the dealership the day it was delivered on January 27, 2007. While ready the owners manual it list two different engines.
The manual states one engine is a 2 in the VIN and the other is a D in the VIN. What number or letter in the VIN is the book talking about. My VIN has both of them shown in it.
Just let me know from the left of the VIN to the right how many to count over.
Thanks and I am sure I will be posting many more questions.

Welcome and congrats on your DMAX bro!!! Youll love it!!! Also check out the sticker on your air cleaner, it should say --- " 360 HP" . If its an LBZ, if its the newer LMM it will say 365 hp. Also the Newer LMM has more emissions on it, you will see a bigger canistor underneath witch is the Diesel particulate filter. if you have one then im sorry! I think you safe cuz to MY knowledge the newer LMM is only in the NEW body style truck, you should have the LBZ in you Classic!!!

Guys,
Thanks for the help no need to feel sorry for me. I have a LBZ under the hood and took it out for a drive yesterday for another 120 miles. Now the truck has 240 miles on it.
One question how many miles should I drive before hooking 5,500 lbs. to it?
This is one heck of a truck compared to my old 2005 1500 crew cab.
Thanks for the help!

I'm also new at this diesel, upgraded from a 6.0 gas truck last week.
What is the difference between a LLY and LBZ, etc.
What does LLY stand for ? That is what I have in my truck.....

Well we filled up the new truck yesterday which my wife has now named (Sampson). Even with both of us driving it with varied speeds and some spirited take offs he still got 16.5 MPG. Not bad for the first tank full mostly city and some interstate.
Man this truck feels good can't wait to get the trailer and car behind it to see how Sampson pulls.
