Default Oversized Tires

I'll be getting a new set of tires for my '03 2500HD ccsb 4x4 Silverado here pretty soon, but would like to get a taller and wider tire than what I'm running now. I currently have 265/75R16s on stock wheels. I'll either be keeping the stock wheels or getting a set of 18" wheels.

What size tire would y'all recommend for the stock wheels, if the truck is stock height, other than being leveled out? What size for 18" wheels?

Any tire recommendations? I don't want anything real aggressive, because this truck very rarely goes down anything more than a dirt road. I've thought about Nitto Terragrapplers, because that is what my dad just got on his 2007 F250 and I have several friends that have them. Are they any good?

Thanks!

Brad

From my experience the Terra Grapplers dont hold up well on 3/4 ton trucks, theyre great for 1/2 tons that are alot lighter but tend to wear out quick under the extra weight. If it were my truck id look into a set of BFG All-Terrains in either 285/75/16 or 295/75/16...both are offered in a load range E which would be great for a 2500HD truck and have good on and off-road performance. the 285/75's are a 33" tire and the 295/75 are a 33.5", either should fit perfect on your truck. I think you'll like the look of the slightly larger tire on there, the 265/75's on a truck with already a pretty tall suspension just look wrong.

I agree that the 265/75s look kinda small haha

Will I have any problems with anything rubbing with the 295/75s? And these will fit on my stock rims, correct?

I know you wont have any problems with rubbing with the 285/75's at all, the 295/75's being 1/2" taller im not sure but i wouldnt think so. either will fit on you stock rims no problem. I cant tell from the picture but is the front of your truck leveled with the rear? If so you definitely wont have any rubbing issues. All of the 2500HDs ive ever been around or driven have had 285/75s on the stock 16's and had no rub and they look alot better, especially they BFGs!

Just find some stock 1500 torsion keys throw them in, crank up your front end a couple inches and fit the 295's.

No, it's got a pretty disgusting looking rake haha. A buddies dad told me that I can just crank my torsion bars to raise the front end, is this true? Anyone have a write up on how to do this?

Pretty simple stuff, there are two bolts underneath that you use to adjust the torsion bars towards the middle of the truck. Just make sure you adjust them both the same amount and dont go more than you need to or else your ride will go to crap. Youll also want to get a front end alignment after you adjust them.

You forgot to tell him to jack the truck up so there is no weight on the front end.

My truck is in my sig, it has 285/75/16's, they fit well, but don't LOOK that big. Torsion keys turned about 3/4 the way in.
