Default 1993 GMC xcab swb 350 to 5.3 swap.

Ok I finally scored me a complete 2001 5.3 w/4L60E trans last night for $830 and will be swapping it into my truck but have a few questions about the swap. Ill be doing everything myself so I'm trying to find out as much info as possible before I start. I've been reading alot on this site and others like it and already know how to address the mounting and have all the wiring diagrams for both trucks but I still have a few questions. Are the ends on the power steering lines the same on the 5.3 as the 350 or will I need to have some made? How are people addressing the ac lines?

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

PS lines, you are good to go. Same fittings as the 01 steering box on your 93. How are you placing your AC compressor?

Ok thanks, I want to try to reuse as much of the 5.3L factory accessory locations as I can because this build is extreemly tight budget. I already am going to rebuild the tranny cause its a 2wd and i have to disasseble it to change the output shaft anyway.
If I have to relocate the ac comp I'll make the brackets for it using my buddies shop (I'm his weekend machinist anyway). I already have all the dimensions and materials there to make the motor mount plates rather than buy them. I also have another buddy willing to help he integrate the wiring harness's so that's not going to be as bad as I thought it would be all I have to do is buy the beer...

Thanks, for all the help so far and please feel free to make any suggestions cause this is my first ls swap and any help/suggestions/recommendations is greatly appreciated.

Well looks like i'll be making some head way pretty soon with my 5.3/4l60e swap. Last Friday night I spent about 4 hrs sorting throught and soldering my wiring harness using the directions from lt1swap.com and the service manual to greatly simplify my wiring swap then Saturday I machined my motor mount plates. I ordered front/rear seal kit, oil pan gasket and dynomax superturbo muffler from summitracing Monday so that'll be in next week. I go tomorrow to help a friend pull a 98 5.7 engine and I get the complete interior/wiring/trans/xfercase to use in mine. I also go Thursday and pickup my tires and wheels which are Wolf wheels 18"x9" with new 285/65/18 Nitto Terra Grappler AT's on them for $1000. So looks like when I get finished with my truck I'll have a very nice ride. I'll start posting pics as soon as I get a chance, I've got plenty of them but when I get on here I'm ususally at work and they don't allow us to access alot of sites.

Well I finally got all my parts to drop my 5.3 into my truck as soon as I get the front/rear seal and oilpan gaskets changed (I broke 2 3 jaw pullers today trying to remove the harmonig balancer) I hope to have the engine and trans installed by next saturday so I can load it on my trailer and bring it home right now it's at my buddys shop 32 miles away. I got my tires and wheels installed today and milled the humps off of the backs of my motor mounts and finished machining my motor mount adapters. The old trucks looking better everytime i do something else to it.

Well I got all the gaskets changed in my 5.3 since I found it had an oil pan seal leak so I went ahead and changed all the gaskets and seals for good measure. Finished machining my motor mount plates and the engine is bolted in the truck right now and at home waiting for me to wire it up and plumb the fuel system, but all that's got to wait for 2wks now till I get the stiches out of my hand that I got saturday. Man it sux cause I wanted to get it home so I could finish it up but now per dr's and wifes orders I have to give it a rest till I head then I'll be hot and heavy on it again.

Nice solid truck for your foundation! Good score on the Y pipe. that will fit like a glove! mine sure did. Summit Racing sells the stock 99-07 intermediate pipe that will work with your Y pipe.

More pics!
