That could be some of your 15.5mpg's.

my 5.3/4L60E ( less engine, and better first gear ) with a 3.08 rear will get 18 if I can keep my foot out of it and has done 21 on a trip

The MAF that came on this set up is a SMALL LONG one and I could not get it to go 'in line' the way I wanted it. I dont really like any of the elbow style "CAI" set ups I have seen for these swaps. The only way to really make it work is to make it come really low or cut some stuff and I am not going to do that; sentimental reasons (for some reason...)

Also, I know the alignment is out some, it needs new lower ball joints but I have not had them replaced yet b/c not sure what I am going to do suspension wise. THoughts of bags to just a spring drop has been passed around. I just do not know yet....

I have picked up a more traditional MAF, larger bore and thinner (like your 5.3 and just about every other MAF I have seen, LOL) and sometime will put it in line and see what happens.

But these 6.0s normally do not get good MPGs from what the 'net says....

that makes sense whey you went with SD for now then. My bro-inlaw and I are putting a LQ4/80E in a 65 C-10 its bagged ( removed rear coils 87 subframe ) We'll find out how it does on mpg's, it should be up and running for power tour.

my brother is getting his 68/69 ready today, should test drive it this afternoon.
his has 3.73s so I am looking forward to feeling the difference. Then I probably will be finding a gear set...we will also see if more gear helps the truck in the MPGs. sometimes I think I am lugging the motor with the 3.09 once the TC locks up.

Ya I can see your 3.09 lugging it some. You can hear mine lugging once it gets in second. I took it to the track back in Nov. It ran a 14.9 at 93. My buddy's all said you could hear it going down the track lugging. I have a 14 bolt SF I'm wanting to convert to 5 lug and put out back. It has a 4.10,

3.73's your bro has will be really nice! I'll bet you like it.

glad to see others jumping this direction. Mine has been in for 3 years now and loving it. It is only the 5.3 but still great. I am about to jump for the 6 speed swap, I have one sitting in my shop...
