Default Advice please...

Hey guys.
I am getting ready to dump some money into my pile.
Needed some advice from the best.
I am doing gears, a trutrac, a tune and a transmission rebuild and torque converter.
Needed advice on:
what gear ratio
what stall
what else with the trans rebuild (vette servos, shift kit ect...)
The truck is all stock (for now).
But wanted to do something to make it better while I'm at it.
Not rich, but don't mind saving for better quality.
Thanks guys.

Do you do mostly city driving or highway?

A good combo of both.
Make a trip out to California a few times a year.
Other than that back and forth to work.
Just want to make the drive more fun.

I wouldn't do anything more than 4.10's personally for a good balance of city and highway mileage. Definitely the truetrac. I'll let someone else offer suggestions on the stall. I've never been a fan of a ton of stall for a DD. definitely vette servo and shift kit. I'm not sure what tunes are available for the 96 model year trucks.

4.10's were kinda where I was leaning also.
I keep hearing that if I put in 3.73's I will wish I had put in 4.10's.
I have been talking with Charlie Wheatley for a tune.
Should I look at a trans cooler also?
I don't do any towing at all with this truck.
Thanks for the help wide open.

What gears do you have now?

I've had both 3.73 and 4.10's and the difference isn't huge. Highway driving is slightly more relaxed with 3.73's and acceleration is slightly more brisk with the 4.10's.

Stall = external trans cooler as a rule of thumb. A stall will heat the fluid quickly so you'll definitely want an external cooler if your truck doesn't already have one.

It has 3.42's now.
Where does everyone get trans coolers from?
