1993 Chevy Stepside
Here's my baby. Started as a stock as a rock 1993 Stepside when I was 16.....and then I got the itch
Changed wheels, tires, grill, roll pan, shackles....then it looked okay to me enough to start working on the guts of it....4 motors to be exact...
Then in college, I got some fundage rolling in from my Engineering internship work and decided to throw some new shoes on it and give it a 4/6 drop (which was actually 4/8 due to not taking the shackles off yet)
Then I got back into the motor business again after I maxed out what I could do with the ol' TBI 5.7. I had aluminum heads, headers, cam, single plane intake, Holley Commander 950 TB, etc....but it wasn't enough...I then got into the LS scene.
So I dropped a 5.3 out of an 04' Avalanche as a place holder for my next engine. It was a DBW setup with 40k miles on it. So my friends and I made the harness standalone and fabbed a quick intake for it and we were set. As I said, it was a place holder for my next engine, which was the LS1 from my 2002 Trans Am. When I pulled it from the car to make room for its new setup, I decided to build it up a bit in case my plans got carried away...as they usually did
Here's what's in the motor today as it sits:
LS6 Block
LS6 intake
MTI X1 Cam .591/.577
Stage II 243 Heads with 2.08/1.60 valves
Jesel Shaft Mount Rockers
Comp Lifters
ATI underdrive pulleys
HP Tuners tuned by me
Schoenfeld Headers
We kept the same truck harness and I used the same DBW truck throttle body to keep it simple. I added an Air Conditioning setup because I didn't feel like notching my frame to make the factory one work its original position. I used some Kwik Performance brackets and it worked out great. Also, traction was and still is a problem so we threw on some Caltracs to help it out.
So now, I had 430 rwhp at tap, I figured I'd fix the exterior how I wanted it to be. After a couple of hailstorms and 18 year old paint...she was looking a bit rough. So I then had a friend of mine paint it for me and do some shaving while he was at it. I got a new model grill shell with billet inserts, different smooth roll pan, shaved and smoothed some LED's into the tailgate for my brake lights. And that's how it rests today....just how I like it. I have the 20's which are Cragar Boost if anyone is wondering wrapped in some Nitto Invo's 275/40/20.
And sadly enough, I've never gotten to take good pics of it yet....these are just iPhone pics in my work parking lot. But anyway, that's my girl. Here's a pic of my donor Trans Am and its new setup just for eye candy....408 with twin turbos
It has some Billet Specialties Street Lites on it now too but I haven't got a picture of them yet either...but anywho.
