Default New Project California 1966 K10

Here are some pictures of the New Project California 1966 K10 I purchased up North. It was an Ex-Park Service, Cab and Chassis K10 that had been sitting for almost 14 years. The plans are to clean it all up and use it as a run around parts truck. Shy of a bad set of doors the metal is all in great shape. The bed is off another truck and the metal on it is great just the wood is all rotted away. Most of the things that have been done on it I will have to redo. The power steering conversion is a mess. Then the steering column is a mess (just picked up a complete perfect one). The dash has been cut for a stereo.

All in all it was a score with a K10 in this good of shape even for out here on the Left Coast!!

1966 K10, 127", STD Int, SPC Paint, 283 CI, 4 Speed SM420, Weld Wheels and 35" BFG Tires.

A buddy of mine is building a 68 Chevy on an 80's model frame, 460 ci engine, turbo 400, 4x4, 10 inch lift, 38" tires.

Yours is much further along though, looks great.

I plan to just get all the metal straightened around first. Then add some shades of suede color along with all the original custom side trim and chrome. I need to pull the transmission and transfer case and change all the gaskets and seals. While that is going on I am going to clean the 283 all up. The eventual plan for the 283 is to add some Aluminum Heads, Offenhauser 3x2 Intake, Mild Cam, all Finned Aluminum Covers and a set of Stainless Shorty Headers. Just a nice clean old school build that runs good and easy to maintain.

I hope to get my 12 year old son interested but it isnt working yet??

I have my eye on a few '66 Short Bed 2WDs also. I just could not turn this one down because of how clean it is. If I find a '66 Short Bed 2WD in this shape I will probably sell this 4WD.
