Value of 72 GMC with LQ4 swap
I'm at a point in my life where I'm considering selling my 72 GMC truck. I have no idea where to start the asking price, all the ones I see for sale have 350s and an ocasional big block. I put in an LQ4 just recently put in the 4L60e transmission, it has a ford 9 in out back with 4.11 gears and limited slip. Its a long bed, replaced the rocker pannels and part of the floor, has no body rot now, is primered not painted, I need to have it tuned but last time i dyno'd it was with a 700r4 that was bad and it dynoed 362hp and 365 tq at the wheels. It ran 8.6 @ 83 through the 1/8 with the 3.50 gears I'll run it with the 4.11s before i sell it for sure. I'll try to get some pics up here but I was wondering about how much an LS swap increases the value if at all on one of these, it dose make it nice to drive gets great gas mileage for a classic truck and will run with modern muscle cars in a straight line. Any help is apreciated thanks. Also it was 3/4 ton but it's been changed to 1/2 ton all the way around droped 2 in in the front 4 in in the back new front suspension, new rubber in the rear leafs, alot of work done.

Depends on the part of the country you're in. I have a 72 Cheyenne Super with an old school 350 still in it and the body is a bit rough. I get offered $3-4k fairly often and I'm in the southeast. In the NE it'll be worth a good bit more but I'd say in GA it would be about a $5-6 truck if the swap is clean and not butchered, probably a $7-8k truck with an additional $10k in paint and body lol.
Pics would help...

I've turned down 10k for mine, and its just a 68 stepside primered flat black and lowered with a 5.3/4l60e. You have the better motor and a strong rear end. you should be able to get that easy, even if it is a long bed.

how dose your 68 run with the 5.3 what kind of gas mileage, rear wheel power or 1/4 mile times have you seen. I got 17mpg hwy with the 700r4 and ran the 1/4 in 13.6 @ 99 before I swaped heads bumping compression in the process that was also with 3.50 gears. Also thanks for telling me you turned down 10 grand cause I don't think i could sell it for less I'd probably just hold on to it. I would like to some day sell it and build an older one with modern drive train I've always liked the 40s and 50s trucks one of those with modern suspension braking and drive train would be nice

West coast definitely adds to the value, it does look straight and pretty tight. I follow these trucks pretty seriously and have had several, they aren't as popular to the general enthusiast crowd as the people that have a soft spot for them. If you're on CL or trader websites your not going to get the money you want because people are looking for Chevelles and Camaros and will only settle for a truck if the constant $30k price tags beat them up. The forums are full of old guys that already own a truck or want to pull one out of a barn. Finding the right buyer for that truck at 10k would be a needle in a hay stack... I know it sucks, I have several cars I still own because I don't want to take the hit.
