Hemi ?

Hemi ?
Ok, all you Hemi guys out there. Her DD is a 05 Jeep GC Limited with a 5.7. It has 19k on it now, ever since new it has always had what I would consider to be some sort of valvetrain tick that is noticable at idle, well today it was driven say 30min and shutoff for about 20min then restarted ( so engine was pretty much at temp) upon restart it gave a nice puff of blue smoke (oil) out of the exhaust. Now its really got me wondering what the hell is going on with it.. Going to see about taking it back to the dealer but wanted to know if any of you guys have seen and or heard of this? It has had the oil changed every 5k with Mobil 1 and is 100% stock down to the tires. Any input would be great.....

The hemi's are notorious for the "hemi tick". But blowing some blue smoke at startup tells me there is something wrong in the valve train allowing some oil to seep past the valve seals while parked. Could be a relation this time around.....

Ok so the tick is a common thing, yes I agree something is going on. My first thought was a bad valve seal but..... It did it that time and hasnt since to my knowledge. I told her to pay attention when she starts it to see if it does it again but... Women....

If it doesn't use any descernable ammount of oil I wouldn't worry about it. The viton valve seals hold up well and the hemi tic is the beehive spring coils colapsing on each other as the spring is compressed and it's normal with beehive springs but can vary with cam lift and spring type. Random blue smoke could be a stickey PCV valve that stuck and caused some pressure to force oil down past the seal and guide onto the back of the intake valve. If your not noticing any oil loss I wouldn't be too concerned with it.

My dad's 04' Ram has that tick. Not as noticeable when cold, when the oil is thicker. How do you get rid of that noise?
How do you go about adjusting the valves on a 04' Hemi? Noise seems to be louder on the passenger side..Plus, it has a little over 66k miles on it.
