Question Tuner Recomendation for 4.7L

Hey guys, I don't own the truck, its my Dads. Its an 05 with the 4.7L V8.
He just got it and we drove it 800 miles the other day. Well, its a nice truck, but it averaged (all hwy) a meesely 12mpg........
I was shocked! Thats what my 8.1L 496 cubic inch bbc gets on the hwy..

I felt bad for him actually. He was suprised too.

Long story short, there's got to be some tuneability in this motor. I can't believe thats the best it can do. Suggestions????

So, Can anyone suggest a tuner for me as I'm not sure of a good mail order Dodge tuner. Not a handheld. I've had nothing but bad experiences with those. A PCM tuner...such as Fastchips or something.

THanks,
Stew

I was on the Superchips website, I saw they have a tuner for the 4.7L now. I have for my Hemi Ram and it works really well.

Hey, thanks for the information. I appreciate it.
I guess I'm kind of looking for a tuning shop in the Houston Area that can do what alot of these GM dyno shops do with their hacking into the PCM and changing parameters around to optimize the vehicle. I just haven't heard of or have experience with Dodges.

THanks again,
STEW

i ran a 15.1 down from 16.6 stock with just 206cams,cai,exhaust,efan and a hemifever "can" tune. once i get he gets it dialed in it should easly be in the 14s

i also had bad traction issues and was only leaving at 1k as apose to 2k where i used to

stock 3.55 gears

This is my truck, its a loaded up Lonestar edition Quad Cab on factory 20s and still has the factory 3.92 gears. Its a 2006. The engine has JBA headers, Custom reground HO 4.7 cams, some head porting, and true dual exhaust. The stock intake manifold has been modified and I am running larger 4.7 HO injectors. Stock PCM tune for the moment that actually happens to be safely rich. Oh and it has a 3.7 Jeep Liberty converter that stalls around 2,800 rpm behind the modified 4.7. I get 18-20 mpg running a steady 70 mph on the highway and about 14 in town.
