16X10 or 16X8 for 28/10.5/16 Hoosiers

I want to buy some 28 10.50 16 hoosiers for the track and would like to know if going with 10'" rims will flatten out that hoosier and make it stick better. They list either rim as acceptable. Anybody have experience with this?

The "measured rim" spec is usally a good rim width recommendation if the manufacturer only gives a range for their recomendation. For the 28/10.50/16 slick, this is 10".
18153 28.0/10.0-16 C 10.0" 28.0" 88.0" 8-10" 10" 12.0" 23 C07
Since the tread width is 10", using a 10" rim will allow you to run more pressure while keeping the footprint flat which will be more stable on the top end. I am using the same tire on a stock 16x7 Silverado wheel. I have to run lower pressure for a good footprint so they get rather squirley on the top end. Add this to running a radial up front, it has gotten down right scary on occasion. This is one reason I am looking to try out a radial.

I've been running 28/11.5/16 quick time pro hoosiers on 8" rim with 16 psi at the track and good handling. On 2004 chevy rclb, ls6 transplant motor 1.7 60 ft. I also drive them to the track 20 miles with 30 psi.
