Ok so, out racing last weekend a new fast guy emerged from the woodwork... There was speculation several weeks ago that a 9 second cobra was bought from a guy in Phoenix and is now here in Tucson. Then suddenly, one comes out to the meets that looks just like it. I'm hearing people tell me he says it's stock, blah blah. Basically nothing is touching it on the street...he trained that big block truck by several cars, so no way I could keep up without locking my converter, at a minimum. So the dude calls me out from a street dig race, and wants to put money on it. This is the car...
I don't have to beat him from a roll, just from 0 to 130 or so. Anybody think its worth my while? I'll be at the track this weekend testing the limits of my converter to see where it stops getting faster and just starts making heat. I'm thinking 15psi or so before the Circle D has had enough. Thoughts?

Doesn't matter if he's gonna be on slicks or not, you can take him and here's why I think that.
A) No way will he hook as well (obviously) on the street as in that vid and with your 4wd you'll get at least a 1.5-2 car jump on him.
B) His mph at the quarter tells me his top end is not that great (or as great as it should be) which is what he'll need to reel you in. Turbo's will always have a better top end than the heat pump he's running on that mustang.
Not taking anything away from that car but on the street that's an low 11 second car and your a 10 second truck with 4wd at the track or on the street.
How much is he asking for in the race?

New info, asked the friend who talked to him... He wants a dig at the track. Even a poor driver in that car could take my truck at the track. The converter just isn't stirring the koolaid. Between me and Joey in that race on the first page, he was on 14psi and I was on 16-17...definitely should not have taken that long to pull his truck back in. Regardless, I haven't run my truck at all on the track with its current setup, so I would need several days of practice to ensure I had a fighting chance.
Julien, interesting take on his times... It occurred to me that his top end was much better, and his 60' was good...something is amiss in the middle of the run, though. I would have expected a little quicker ET for that 60 and trap. Like the trans had a hiccup on a shift. But I agree, slicks won't help him on the street. Didn't help that fox body a few months ago lol.

Strong running trucks! ^^^How do you like my triple 12 cam in the 5.3L at low boost? lol
1.38 60' out of the cobra isn't that unheard of for a high 9 sec car that is set up. A hard leaving 9.90 car will run high 1.2 60's and trap 132mph. His times are about right.
