Man, I don't want to **** anyone off here, but first, lets see your automotive engine design degree's and resume's. With the poor condition the automotive market is in, don't you guys believe if there was a design/configuration that was superior in so many ways to their own, wouldn't they adopt it instantly? Let alone go 15 years letting a "superior design" go unanswered? If the overhead cam v8 was as superior as some think, it would be unbelievably irresponsible for GM and Chrysler to take the path they have. I have nothing against ford, I own one myself, and I do think the new 5.0 is a very well designed engine that makes awesome power. But at the same time, you have to get back to the fact that it is essentially a factory built race motor. GM did this in 1968 with the DZ302 that was a "factory built race motor" making over 400hp with a 302" engine. If GM took their 4.8L, added CNC ported factory designed high performance heads, a much more aggressive camshaft, an intake better than the truck-purposed one it has, a set of well flowing headers with good exhaust and an aggressive factory tune like ford did, I don't think it would be too far off the 5.0 that has all these parts from the factory. I think it was a good decision on fords part to actually push their engines like all the ford gearheads know they can handle, GM would be smart to let their LS motors run like they should, look what has been done time and time again with factory short block 4.8's and 5.3's. 4.6 and 5.4's have also been pushed pretty far. It's just the fact that ford has chosen to let it ride, and offer something exceptional working with what they already have.

Ford now makes a supercharged 5.0 that makes 624hp...Chevy and Dodge might need at least a 7.0 supercharged to do that...lol

They never made anywhere near that at the rear wheels though...more like 280rwhp as i had a BONE STOCK 383 RoadRunner making 335 crank HP and i killed these 302 Chevy's...

Cant wait to see the Supercharged 6.2 Camaro for 2012. 550rwhp but that is a 6.2L motor with a supercharger only making 90 more crank HP than a little NA 302...
When Chevy and Dodge get smart they will go OHC for performance and efficiency for cars and small diesel V8's for efficiency and torque for trucks.
All manufacturers are only level on one field with regards to HP per CI and that is Nascar based on the old OHV blocks.

I remember when ford went to the mod motors. Chevrolet still ran the LT-1 in the fbody's. All the **** talking from the ford guys about pushrod engines are junk, ohc is the way to go...blah blah blah. GM came out with ls based engines. Over 10 years later, Ford finally has an answer. And here we go again with the same dipshit arguement...
Meanwhile, people are making 1k hp with junkyard, LS based v8s. Hmmm.

Gm does this with a 6.2...And it's a PRODUCTION vehicle, not a one off. GMPP does specialty vehicles too, I just saw their ecotec 4 cyl. making 528hp, straight from GM... Do yourself a favor and quit reaching so far to try and show how much better you think ford is, neither one is that far ahead of the other.
Read my sig line clown - i own a chevy so i have no brand loyalty. i also own a BMW, Toyota, and Mazda.
