4.8 Silverado vs ford, dodge, titan, tacoma etc...
Well i recently purchased a 2003 Silverado extended cab 4.8, when i got it at first i was damn i dont what the big fuzz is about owning a Chevy because it certainly wasnt as fast as i thought. well anyways after getting it i got a AEM Brute Force Intake and TBS Poweraid. Now with that it actually made a difference but i still dont think i can take one any truck since its a small V8 or can I???
I raced my friends 97 GMC Sierra 5.7 Vortec Max extended cab, small bed and he beat me pretty bad. the worst part is that his is 100% stock and so was i at that time but now with what i did can i keep up with it or will he still take me? he beat me by like literally 4 to 5 truck lengths.
I'd also would like to know where i would stand against Ford's, Dodge, Titan, Tacoma, and any other truck you can think of.

stock horspower should be 270-285. with the extended cab you should have a 3.73 gear. the 4.8s love to rev, so from a roll youll probably have a better chance. newer tacoma, he'll beat ya, hemi will get ya, and the titan as well, they pull pretty stong. if you had the stock 16-17" rims and tires youd have a way better chance, im assuming your running 305/50/20's, those are about 32.? inches tall, not good for racing at this point of your mods

Only way you will really wake the truck up is, internal mods, cam-heads. Or add some boost to it.. They love to rev like said.. If it were in a reg cab short bed it would be a big difference. You need to do the basic good bolton's, will see a nice gain.. Long tube headers, a pcm tune( not a handheld tuner)

Get it custom tuned, get rid of the spacer, get you some headers on there. Being ext cab doesnt mean 3.73 gears, mine has 3.42s. They will run good with mods. I have beaten a few of each truck you have listed. Dont give up on it, just mod it.
