go with some pacesetter longtubes for half that price and more power, and an exhaust of your choice. I dont know about most, but my 4.8 loves to breath. I run the slp loudmouth I series, anything other than that and it suffers. I have tried several different mufflers and all cause a restriction besides the loudmouth I on my truck. Go with something straight thru such as the slp, the magnaflow, dynomax bullets or anything like that. Get a custom tune, Charlie Wheatley in Katy/Houston area did wonders with my truck.

Borla makes some really nice equiptment but its really expensive. I picked up a Borla muffler for my truck with a large case size to keep it quiet. Im in my truck all day and can't stand it really loud for that long. Pacetter long tubes is the way to go along with the y-pipe. There are sponsors on this site that sell them at great prices. Texas speed and performance is one but check them all out and see what looks good to you.

when my 08 4.8 reg cab long bed was stock i was side by side with my cousins 07 taco crew cab short bed until i hit speed limiter... with tune and exhaust i pulled on him pretty good so that will give you some idea. granted the newer 4.8s are a little stronger but our trucks prob weigh the same

You need to get on crailslist or the local ls1tech classifieds. I got my 5.7 ls1 aluminum block for my truck (long block) for $600

My buddy just sold his ls1 from his camaro for $700, so they are out there, just look.

I've even seen the 6.0 iron blocks go for $500

also just a heads up u don't have to go out and buy the most expensive of anything. long tubes all ya need is pacesetters,k&n,4.10,drag radials,cut out about 3 feet back,and a short tire they make a 25.75 for a 16" rim then ele fans and a tune a dyno tune. make sure you get atleast 30* of timing down low and if possible more you need as much as the motor can take with out knock just down low tho.
you can suprise alot of people with a 4.8 with out going in it,but if you want to go in it,it will only get faster.
