I know a guy that has just about everything done to his Dodge, cam, injectors, turbo, two boxes, booster pump. my question is do you think I could take him in the 1/4 mile? he drives a standerd, so I know that would help me. I'm not sure on the year, I think it is a 03-05. I havent raced a smoker yet that could keep up, but my uncle, a friend of the guy that owns the truck thinks it will beat me. What do you think?

If he is four wheel drive he will out 60 ft you but you will more than make up the differance before the end of the 1/4 mile. If it was an automatic i would be more concerned but i think you still would get him beat. Those manuals make great pulling trucks but its hard to make them go fast down the 1/4 mile because you spend so much time shifting.

Now having said that we decided to do it on one condition. Both trucks will be hooked to 10k pound trailers and we will be going up a 6% grade!
Seriously, I think it will be a good race, but you will take him. It really depends on how much he hammers through the gears. You need to keep in mind as I know you already know. His truck is a six speed and in the 1/4 mile this equals alot of shifting and little time for gaining speed. His truck has a ton of power but I really don't think he willing beat on it just to beat you in the 1/4.
You all need to keep in mind that he has this truck setup to tow a 15k fifth wheel through the mountains of Nevada and Ca. at whatever speeds he wants.
I know I will be there when the time comes for this race. Some video would be great too.

When racing diesels, manuals are at a huge disadvantage. If the truck mentioned was a built auto it would probably run low 13's maybe even a high 12 depending on weight.
My truck is an auto and would probably dyno around 490 and in the 1/8 runs an 8.0x(1.7 60), which translates into a mid 12 run. This is at 6400 lbs. If my truck were a manual I'd be lucky to touch the 13's and it would be hell on the clutch.
On edit: Wow I didn't realize this thread was a month old.
