Built SBC vs Built 6.0

Built SBC vs Built 6.0
Which would be faster a built 383 stroker carbureted or a built 6.0. Assuming the 383 has CNC porter AFR 210 heads, XR 282 camshaft, with single plane high flow intake and 800 cfm carb. 6.0 having about same camshaft with l92 heads and tune. Just wondering if built small blocks are faster than built LS1's.
Also how much horsepower could you get out of each and keep it streetable and N/A.

see now this is a good question now it depend on what piston the 383 running flat top or domes what size cc chamber heads are. 6.0 with cam is going to make over 400 hp. that 383 can make 500 to 550 depends on that stuff. they are both streetable i just depends what trans and what size gear. i drove a monte carlo around with zz4 in it with alot stuff done to it. 500 hp car daily driven on 93

I'll take the new school 6.0 anyday. The LS1 motors make hp so much easier than the old school stuff.. I mean look at some of the times these small block single turbo LS1 cars are running, It would take a 500+ cubic inch old school big block with 3 stages to even come close to these cars.. The newer LS motors and head design is so far ahead of the game everything else is just sucking hine tit..

I agree the LS1's are great motors because of the head flow and durability of the engine. Im just curious because you build a 383 stroker with flat top pistons, completely forged to handle a healthy shot of spray for about $5000 that should leave a LS1. How much would it take to pull a 5.3 and swap in a 6.0. The 383 engine I'm thinking of building has flat top pistons, forged, single plane intake, about 10.5 CR, 750-800 Carb, AFR 210cc heads which flow 300-312. Camshaft would be custom grind.

not taking sides, but i have a sbc story, 4 years ago my dad built a 69 model 350, with summit flattops,9-1 comp, and edelbrock power pack, (heads, cam, intake carb) autozone fuel pump, yada yada, it then spent a year in a 69 camaro running 12.5s, then we put it in a 85 s10 for 2 years, running 12.6s, and now its in a 70 split bumper still running mid to low 12,s. sbcs can get it done, very cheap also, just look at the motor im talking about, we have literally beat the hell out of it and it still performs, could an ls1 or 6.0 out perform it? possibly, but dont count them out

this is a hard one for sure cause you can build a 6.0 that a 383 can't touch.if i was to guess i really would have to say ls1 would net a faster et,and i only say this casue of the guys back home in la. are pulling 12.5 to 1 383 and 388 ci motos and putting 6.0's and 370's and are running 3 to 5 tenths faster.and i know they were some really build motors

The 6.0 stock is nearly the power a mid range 383 is going to make. So then from there it is mod for mod. The 6.0 will quickly kick the crap out of the 383. Like others have said you can build a nasty 383 but for less money then a killer 383 you can build a mild 6.0 and keep up with it. Spend some more money and the 6.0 becomes a killer stroker it's self.
