Default Cranking problems

Our nova has a 13.5 compression bigblock, we have a jegs high torque mini starter, suppose to crank up 18.1, problem we are having, is the starter is barley spinning the motor over. We have timed it a TDC, but to no avail, the motor will run advanced, just wont turn over. When retarted, it spins better, but wont run of course. Battery has a 1100 ca, cables are clean and tight, any ideas?

Plenty of ground straps? How is the starter meshing? Possible the starter is not lined up right and causing allot of extra friction.

yes sir, plenty of ground straps, the starter is lining up fine, from what i can tell by eyeballing it, no unneccesary wear, or patterns. cables are getting hot because its turning over slow, its like im using a stock starter, but im not lol.

Cam timing correct for sure? Maybe you will just have to step up to a 16v battery.

Are you running a locked out distributor? If so, where is the timing set?

Have you tried a different starter just to see if you got a bad one?
