darg rim bead lock screw question
#6
cool, you are having a actual bead lock put in huh skeet? doesn't the bead lock clamp the tire to the rim? I didn't know if the screws would work any different vs the bead lock. Also skeet did you remove the tire from your rim prior to putting the screws in or leave it on?

all i done was bring slick to 35 lbs ( below max pressure to set bead ) then got some screws from the hardware store and drill the rim and then set the screws.

That's why I posted "both sides". A bead lock puts the contact area that is holding the tire, completely around the WHOLE outside of the rim. A screw will only be holding where the screw itself is. Which is why it is better to do both sides of the wheel when using screws. Most times people only use 8 screws per side. That's 16 screws. 16 screws is still 85% shy of the holding capacity of ONE bead lock. Hence the reason you only need one beadlock.
