here i was feelin like a jerk for throwing up the bs flag. yall are just as mean as me! i have no doubt that your truck dropped .2 but it wasnt due to the drop. maybe weather, weight or traction?

^^^^ Yeah, both could have impacted it. The lowering kits usually are lighter weight stuff than the original equipment. With my kit I found it to bounce off the bumpstops and was actually hurting me. I did like the gas mileage increase and the cornering of the kit.

You really had a gas mileage increase? How much was improvement? Did you modify your drivin habits or anything that'd skew the results?

I got about 2 miles better per gallon. The only change in driving was going slow pulling into places that had high curbs or speed bumps. I drive the crap out of my truck, lowering it didn't change that fact. When I raised it back up, I noticed a loss on the first tank.

I think dropping a truck will hurt you at the track... There is less weight transfer, and alot of times it will bounce off of the bump stops, and unload the tires... There are a few higher horsepowered trucks that have had to go back to factory hight just to get the dam things to 60'... Some of those guys may chime in here soon...

all depends on what parts you use to drop it and if you use a notch or not. its not actually the dropping that hurts it, its not being setup correctly that does. and actually think about this! If something is in the air it has resistance on top and bottom, take it down and get it closer to something like the ground or similar and it doesnt have as much resistance on the bottom its all on top. Im not saying its going to be a dramatic difference but you should notice an increase in MPH. look at all the race cars (ie. top fuel, funny, nascar, formula) why are they so low to the ground? if it didnt matter they wouldnt be that low. but i dunno about .2 worth of differnce

I will use a C-notch and I have Caltracs so the truck lifts up during a launch so I wont be hitting the bump stops. Are Hotchkis leafs that much stiffer then stock? And wouldnt stiffer be better in the rear since its not squating and lifting up? Maybe get some adjustable shocks for the front.
