Default First Time a Track Times

It was a Test and Tune Night at the local 1/8. I ran three runs but could of run a ton more. Two runs were before Extreme Street shootout on a .5 light. The third run, I was the first to run after the Extreme Street finals and they still had the light set at what I presume was a .2 light. I busted *** on the three trees though. First time running an automatic. Back in high school (86/87), use to take mom's '82 4 speed stang there.

60 ft times were a bit ugly but I was full street weight, stock suspension, 32 psi in tires, headlight in, tailgate up and with 1/2 tank of gas. Started in 1st and shifted to second. Missed shift on the second run and bounced off rev limiter.

The Falkens hooked up a lot better than I expected. They are a bit on the narrow side with only a 9.x" contact pad. On street they spin pretty bad. I guess it is because all the rubber laid down on the line.

I did not go through water box, knew better. Did a quick power break and let it roll out. Staged at 2000 rpm. Launched and had just a little spin. I presume it was the springs releasing from the axle wrap. Shifted at about 5k or so into second and let it shift itself at 5800. I crossed the traps with plenty left in second gear (3.42s).

1st
rt = .513
60' = 2.24
330' =6.24 @56.7
1/8 = 9.56 @ 74.36

2nd
rt = .567
60' = 2.28
330' = 6.39 @52.44
1/8 = 9.89 @ 71.69

3rd
rt = .238
60' = 2.22
330' = 6.21 @ 56.91
1/8 = 9.53 @74.53

All in all, I am pleased with the mods I have. After gears are in, I will work on reducing that 60' time. Then, I will look at the power adding mods.

not bad... if you are planning on running in the 18th all of the time a bigger stall and 4.56's wouldnt be out of the question. nice times though with your mods. keep it up.

Thanks - was pretty pleased with it all. The first two runs were before they started the shootout. Not having anything to compare it to or realy knowing how go or bad it was, I was happy to see Mustang gts dialed in at 9.3s and 9.4s. I think with a little suspension work and the gears, I should be able to get into 9.3 or a little lower.

Running 4.56s should do the trick, but this is a definite daily driver. I drive, at minimum, 60 miles per day Monday thru Friday. On the weekends, my wife takes it to work. So, 420+ miles per week may be a bit much for 4.56s.

With the 4.11s, if I keep my mph stays the same, I would cross at about 5700 rpms. That would put it right at shift point. If I find that I shift just before crossing the traps, I could adjust the shift point up a little using the handheld.

Since the only tracks around are 1/8 (have two of them within 30 min. drive from house), my cam selection will probably be something under 220 in duration, which should keep the peak rpms at or under 6000 rpms. Or just leave stock one in and add a little spray. Forced Induction would be nice, but budget and frequency play a huge part in decisions,

I am still on the fence about getting the LSD. I am thinking of getting Caltracs instead.
