I took my 08 Vortec Max crew to Saskatchewan International Raceway (SIR) on Saturday. Before I left I peeled the spare winch, hitch, floor mats, and random junk. When I got to the track I took off the tailgate and step rails, pulled the backseat, and left them with my tools under a tree. It was 93 degrees out, unseasonably hot for here. I was hoping to be quicker than the 15.5s the Raptors in AKLowrider's videos, but I was expecting 16s. My truck has nothing but a K and N filter and some of my crappy 91 octane tuning.
First time trial pass I was lined up against this truck.

The dude who owned it was cool, and he'd installed a pipe, some sort of tuner, and a bigger turbo. He was launching in 2wd to keep from breaking, and he said the last time he went out, before the turbo, he turned a 15.8. His license plate said SMOKEEM. I was expecting to get raped. I foot braked in 4wd, killed him in the 60, but by the 1000 foot mark I heard a roar beside me. I went 15.743 at 87 with a .271 RT to his 15.575 at 98 with a .467 RT. That was a big fast truck! I was happy with the time though.

Since it was a points race, they were keeping the track VHT'd for the big dogs like this guy.

63 split window, tube chassis, NA BIG block. There were rumors he was gonna spray it to the 7s since it was the season finale. He spun his way to an 8.04 on the motor. Gorgeous car.
With all the track prep, I tried to launch in 2 and save some parasitic loss. Wrong. Spun on the line hard, .447 RT, 2.601 short time, 16.039 at 87. But I was lined up against an 80s Daytona, so whatever.

With the big turnout, there were only 2 time trials before eliminations. And the points race was on a bracket. I thought I'd do better on the lights and dialed in at 15.6. I got lined up against this GSX-R 750.

Cool guy. He dialed in 11.50. The tech in the staging lanes made fun of me for having my mirrors folded in, and asked the dude on the bike if he was gonna go have a burger while he waited for his turn on the lights. I slept on the lights, .205 RT. He tore the tree down with a .003! The scream of his engine at the big end was deafening, but it was too close to call. He gave me a thumbs up on the return road. Turned out I went 15.763 on my 15.6 dial in, and he went 11.662 on an 11.5. He beat me by one motherf$cking thousandth of a second!! But, I had the 3rd slowest vehicle in the class, and he was the fastest, so it was the right turn of events. If I was on a Gixxer I'd be pissed if I lost to a farm truck! My day was done, so I put the truck back together and joined the bride in the hotel room for pizza and beer and tended to my sunburn. Fun day!

not to bad, iv got the same truck and i went 14.3 @97 on 20s with tune,intake and exhaust but that was in houston/baytown in 50 degree weather
