Default going to the track 2 nite ,... tailgate up down or off ???

jsut like the title says how would i get better times with the tailgate up down (i dont think it helps imo it makes it worse) or completley off i always race with the tailgate off but is this better than having the tailgate up ?

Ive seen a wind tunnel test some where. Actually drafts right over it. I leave mine on now, but it is dead weight.

OK...this is my theory and is pure conjecture...the tailgate up is less drag but at the speeds we are going the weight further aft by having it down seems to outweigh the draft. If you have slicks and traction is no issue the loss of 40lbs by taking it off is the best option.

I still take mine off. When I get to the point where I have traction issues (can't wait) then I too will leave it on. But right now its more weight....
