Default Has anyone been bold enough to try the Toyo Drag Radials?

Being that I'm a cheapass, I'm always looking for good deals to make my truck faster for as little money as possible.

I came across the new Toyo Proxes TQ Drag Radial tires. They make a 255/50/16 which is what many run, but they're only $140 a tire. The Mickey Thomspons aren't too much more, but still $40 more per tire.

Just curious if anyone has tried them. I'd be curious to know how they do.

I guess now they're actually making a drag radial too. I'm tempted to try them out. My truck has so many other things going against it, that these shouldn't be the weak point in me hooking.

My truck being as low as it is I can't run a wide 16x10 rim without buying some bogarts (not going to happen). Hell I rub going to the track with 26" tires. I wanted some to play on the street since everyone around here dig races rather than roll races.

doesnt hurt that in general, s10's hook better than our trucks. i wouldnt expect too much from a 255 series tire on our trucks.

im running on the nitto555r right now. GREAT TIRES. they are almost gone now. next im going to try the mickey thompson drag radials. they are supposed to be badass, and make the same 305/45-18 size that nitto offers.

Well heck, I guess I'll just run the 305/35/20 nitto 555r tires. I can't really justify blowing $400 on drag tires at the moment I'll use 5 times a year.

i only made about 3 passes on the track with the 555r's just to see how they would do. i think it was 1.8 60's. the 555r's hook better on the street than they do on the track.
