Anyone can do what they want but I can promis you that a slick is your best bet. Everyone has an oppinon but I have spent allot of time comparing the two and I can with 100% certainty tell you a slick is your best and easiest choice. It has proven it's self over and over again.
Not saying you can't be fast on DRs (because plenty of people are) but you will be much happier with a slick.

why are you making a promise you cant keep? Look at the fastest trucks/cars they are on DRs. theres a reason for that
now to say a slick is end all to all traction is a bold incorrect statement. You need to pic the best tire for your application
goes along the lines do you need a stiff side wall, do you need a soft side wall, how much recoverly do you need from a tire, how much absorption. theres a lot that goes into knowing what works best

I would put a drag radial on it, as its not a 1600hp truck lol. It will hook just fine with a drag radial, and it will drive nice down the road if he chooses to do so.
I run 235/60r15 drag radials on my junk and it hooks every time, again I do not have a lot of power so actual bias ply slicks are not needed.

Well like I said you do what you want, I am telling you the absolute best tire for the situation. If you choose to ignore me then I hope it works out for you.
Lower hp situations aren't going to make a big differance but I am telling you, a slick will put you leaps and bounds a head.

You might run well with a DR.
You absolutely WILL run well with a slick.
That is the best I can put it. I am not going to continue to argue this point. To all with DR running well awesome. To anyone looking for tires your best easiest and just as fast choice is a slick.

I am not saying throw out your DR and buy some slicks.
Edit no need to prove my point any further. Just trying to make quik happy.
