Default Launching/racing in 4X4?

I've got a Z-71....lowered and all that...I'll have a built LS1 in this thing sooner or later and a built transmission, hope to be in the 12's motor and 11's w/spray. My question is for the guys who have 4x4....These may be some dumbass questions....

When you launch, its in 4 HI? After you get going, do you switch back into 2 wheel drive or ride 4 HI all the way down?

Is a good burnout necessary with 4x4? I've heard from some guys running tens that even with a good burnout the back wheels will spin...so I guess you should burn em down in 2 wheel drive just to get em sticky?

Any help would be appreciated lol

Do you have the manual, or push-button (autotrac) transfer case?

You lucky son of a bitch.

From what I hear, you'll be able to shift from 4hi to 2hi under power. I believe most guys shift out after the 1-2 shift.

I've got the manual t-case, which doesn't shift out under power, and I've had no problems running in 4wd all the way down the track.

Dust off the rears, (depending on power level you'll need to adjust tire pressure) launch in 4hi, after the 1-2 shift attempt to shift back to 2wd. Some can and some can't. There are a number of threads on this subject, look around

Na, I can't see any real advantages of switching to full
time awd over 4 wheel drive

So my truck just sucks?

That's interesting though, you're the first one I've ever heard of with a manual t-case that shifts out under power.
