More Crappy 60' Results
I went back to the 1/8th mile track today. For those of you who saw my thread from about a month ago I had a terrible time hooking. I was getting horrible wheel hop. People suggested it was the driveline so I installed a carrier bearing and 4* shims. That cleared up the vibration, but I still ended up cutting the same exact 60' times(2.10-2.15).
I am getting HORRIBLE HORRIBLE wheel hop. On my burnouts I though I broke something at one point because it was making such horrible sounds bouncing up and down.
I'm at a loss of what the problem is. My truck is 10 years old so I'm thinking it's maybe the leaf springs, but something definitely isn't right. I race a guy in an 03 silverado with almost the same setup as me and he was cutting 1.8x 60' times.

what tires, air pressure, and all are you getting problems with??
was he reg cab or ext?
as far as the bars. my long bars were built at a local offroad shop. Just explain to them what you want and are trying to accomplish, and give them pics. If they are competent enough to build offroad suspension systems, they will have no problem with the concept. I got out the door for FAR less than cal-tracs.
lowered 2wd ext cabs have the hardest time 60 footing....

I have some universal lakewoods on my truck. I had to modify them a little, but it fixed my wheel hop issues. My wheel hop was so bad I broke the factory g80, a eaton E locker and a detroit true track in less than six months. When a 13.5 in wide slick goes to hopping after a 1-2 shift stuff breaks fast.

I'm running 26x11.5x16 et streets on 16x10 rims. They stick out quite a bit from the fender wells so I've wondered if that was the problem
I've tried running 20, 18 , 16, and 14 psi in the tires with the same results.
He was an 03 extended cab with a 5.3L. Stock suspension from the looks of it but with helper bags.

the 03 had stock suspension... that was his advantage... when you start lowering these long *** trucks your 60ft times always seem to suffer... are you notched?
I still say bars will help a ton... and I'd consider a 28" tire given that converter, it never liked a short tire when I ran one.
