You would see a nice gain if you had those LS2 heads without the issue...the low to midrange gain with the 5.3s (if you even did gain any) would be nill by the amount you gained in the upper rpm with the ls2 heads. You mentioned 6500rpm...Is that what you're shifting at? If not, I go at the very least 6500rpm with that cam.

time spent in the higher rpms > time spent in lower rpms in 1/4.

With some better heads, 6700 shift point, more weight reduction and a decent size stall I'd be willing to bet you would be in the 13s with some type of drag tire. All with a good tune of course. Good luck!

I might drop the spare off of it on Saturday. It's a daily driver, so I'm not really looking to give up any more bottom end. I hardly ever drag race, this was just a spur of the moment sort of thing. It's doing 0-60 in 7 seconds flat, which is WAY better than the 9.2-9.5 I started with.

I'm shifting around 6200 or so. I really don't want to spin the hell out of it. It's a stock 6.0 bottom end, the trans is stock too. I'll have to test out spinning it a little higher. I mean, I have the springs to do it. I just worry about the connecting rod bolts letting go.

I think with a converter, exhaust system (still running stock), e-fans and some tuning I could knock out some low 14 second passes. It's got a lot more grunt than it originally had (with the 5.3). If the next owner wants, they can change it all around. This was my second time at the track in my life, first time since moving out here in Michigan. I just mostly wanted to see what I could do. I'm pretty happy right now.

I'm actually selling this and getting back to my Trans Am. Much easier to make a 3400 lb car fast instead of a 6000 lb truck. Not that the truck isn't a blast, I just need to get the cash as I've got to buy the house as part of my divorce settlement.

That's what I was thinking to myself...I understand where you are coming from though.

But for what it is, and for the few boltons it has...it runs darn good.

Keep up the good work!
