I plan on taking my truck to the strip (Orlando Speedworld) to lay down some baseline times before the tune and other mods. Do you leave it in D, or 'manually' shift. At what rpm should you launch? Any other do's or don'ts. Any predictions on time?

-Have you ever raced before? I personally try to get 3 runs minimum as a baseline. I don't just go changin stuff just for the sake of change, & I like to try 1 mod @ a time. I like to see how effective a mod is, & form my own conclusions.
Do: have fun. keep it paint side up. Work on consistency.
Don't: Not keep it paint side up!

Yeah I raced my last car at the strip, but it was a 6sp SVT Focus that had no torque but revved to 8k, so i'm just tryin to adjust to the auto/rwd/v8.
Hold brake in, apply gas (to bring factory stall up so to speak), leave on last yellow and mash it. We'll see what happens.
