Default New NA times

I finally figured out a fueling problem and headed down to Gainesville tonight for some TNT. For one of the first times, I actually did get to 'test' and 'tune'. Usually I end up just spraying...

It's pretty neat what tuning can actually do. I was running 14.0 @ 96 the first time out with my H/C 5.3L.

BTW, mods include:

220 cam, .630'' of lift, 112 LSA
#243 castings
Hooker LTs
Full 2.5'' exhaust
Full belts
Full weight other than tailgate and sway bar
3400 Nitrous converter, 2700 actual flash

Tonight, I had a new NA best of:

.048 Light
1.925 60'
8.363 1/8
83.36 1/8 MPH
13.115 @ 103.05

(DA was roughly 1000 and worked its way down to 700+ by 9-10 PM. 7+ MPH head wind.)

All I did was tweak the shocks... adjust fueling... and adjust timing

It's definetly worth taking the time to dial in your setup. I couldn't cut better than a 2.0 60' last time out and now I cut a best of 1.877 with my weak *** converter.

New converter. Dyno. New cam soon.

Nice time. What exactly do you not like about your converter? The flash?

congrats on the new times kyle.
yeah we both had the benefit of tuning and getting some good feedback out of the runs.

Congrats Kyle, 14.0 to 13.1 is a huge difference from just tuning and tweaking! What's the new cam you are going to go with.

Yes, that and the shift extensions. It flashes to 2700 NA, 3300 N2O. Shift extensions are 4200/4300. Great street converter, but that's not what I'm after.

No doubt. I still have a lot more tweaking to do. Last night I was just trying to keep fueling at a flat 12.5 A/F, and get rid of that dip of timing at launch. Now, I'm going to go back and find out where it needs more/less fuel/timing.

I'm swapping in a 3600, 9.5'' converter. Should put me in the 1.7s. Change out the cam and drop in the .6s. That's my goal atleast.

I'm not positive on the specs as of yet. I need to plan a dyno appoint. so I can find out what is going on and where. Right now, I'm unsure of how my spring kit is holding up to these aggressive lobes (.630+'' of lift). Once I put it on the dyno, I'll tweak the final specs of the cam. If all is well, I wouldn't mind using the same lobes for my next cam, but I'm not a fan of the 112LSA. I have a feeling power is going to carry out way past 6000. Not really what I'm looking for.

Well, that's what is interesting. There's a cell count in the HP Tuners Scanner which shows you basically, what RPM you are staying at the most. The cell count I hit the most was 4800, which just happens to be right around peak TQ. So, in designing a cam you would need it to be very strong at/around 4800. You would also need lots of torque between flash RPM and this point. Designing a cam this way is what I think would get you down the 1/4 the quickest...

... now, what cam will do this.

I dunno man, I am hoping mine will perform well in the 3000-6200 range. We will see after this weekend what it likes to do but it will be without a convertor for a while. Hey Kyle did you have those 243s milled at all?
